Welcome to The Granary,
Shrewsbury self catering accommodation
A warm welcome awaits you at The Granary Self Catering Cottage, to ensure you have a memorable holiday in our beautiful hamlet. The Granary is a newly converted semi-detached barn conversion, standing across the yard from our Georgian Farmhouse, which is situated in the rural hamlet of Newton-on-the-Hill. Set in the tranquil North Shropshire countryside, surrounded by green fields, crops and beautiful views of the Welsh Hills, The Shropshire Plain, Sleap Airfield, (a former wartime airfield now used by Shropshire Aero Club) The Wrekin and Grinshill. An ideal location for restful, relaxation or bliss for outdoor enthusiasts, country lovers, history buffs or those with a love of good food!
Newton-on-the-Hill is just 6 miles north of medieval Shrewsbury and 8 miles from Ellesmere, known as Shropshire's Lake District.
The barn has been lovingly converted by ourselves in 2009. We have done our best to retain a wealth of original exposed beams preserving the original character of the building whilst providing everything needed for a relaxing, memorable holiday. The barn is tucked up the lane of Newton-on-the-Hill, just far enough off the beaten track and away from the madding crowd but just minutes to the A528 and easy motorway connection.
The Granary offers high quality accommodation, including a luxury kitchen/dining room, large living room with a warming wood burner stove creating a cosy, homely atmosphere . Four tastefully decorated bedrooms, two with en-suite showers and family bathroom. The enclosed lawned garden with patio is ideal for relaxing or dining al fresco. Open the double glazed doors of the kitchen on to the side patio to beautiful views, of green fields with Clive and Grinshill in the distance.
The surrounding countryside offers excellent walking and cycling whilst historic Shrewsbury and Shropshire's Lake District, Ellesmere, are within easy reach, as are the four other market towns of Wem, Market Drayton, Whitchurch and Oswestry. The Granary is in a stunning location, whether you are looking to explore Shropshire, go further a field or simply relax in front of the wood burner fire which is perfect for a break, all year round.
